Barkhamsted Reservoir

Barkhamsted Reservoir is a man-made lake located in Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA. It was created in the 1940s as part of the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) water system. The reservoir is located in the towns of Barkhamsted and New Hartford and has a surface area of about 1,200 acres (490 ha). The reservoir is surrounded by wooded hills, and the water is clear and cold. It is a popular spot for fishing, hiking, boating, and picnicking. The reservoir is also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, deer, and beavers. The MDC operates several recreational areas around the reservoir, including picnic areas, boat launches, and hiking trails.
